Romance in Your Day!

Hello everyone....today I would like to encourage you to put some Romance into your life.   We all need a bit of Romance and to me the definition of Romance is simply sharing your love with someone or yourself by recognizing and sharing something beautiful, and being thoughtful and kind to others.

Call a loved one today...buy yourself a few flowers, or some pretty art papers and make a little collage or decoupage a little box...... have a cool and fruity drink........read a wonderful book, or go window shopping on a warm sunny afternoon!  Find that friend you haven't talked with in a long time and send them a pretty little card or sweet little gift.   For your special loved one....give them that special little kiss on the cheek, a hug or a thank you....think of them, smile and do something thoughtful and special just for them!  Romance is a gift we share.......

I love anything that is heart felt....my hubby when he goes to the library and brings home lovely home gardening or decorating books just for me!  My youngest son, when he hugs me and calls me "cutie face".   When my oldest son, when he sees that I need a new watch...goes and picks out one that is exactly the one I love and brings it home with such a smile.  My daughter, when she thinks of ways for the two of us to see each other, through projects or simply a short lunch...and always knowing what I want for Christmas or Birthdays and lets the "Guys" know. (hehehe)  For all of the wonderful hugs and kisses that are my greatest gift and for the Love the Lord Above Gives me each day in sooo many ways! 

Be looking for the Romance and Love, it's there.....take a deep breath, close your eyes, take that moment and think of the beauty of a rose, the softness of a warm breeze in the spring, the twinkling of the Night Time Summer Sky full of lightening bugs....Romance, a will of the spirit,  a mindset, and a sense of thankfulness!  These are my gifts to you dear friends, the encouragement to think of love and beauty, the sharing of ideas and my love to you!  God Bless You Today!

Contemplation on Neatness

Today has been a huge lesson...on my "creative mess" as I call it.   I usually know exactly where everything is in my pile of lovely items....but I lost a bag that contained Irish coins for some necklaces and some very lovely cameos....couldn't find it anywhere, tore everything up looking for those lost coins....kinda like the lady in the old testament who cleaned out her whole home to fine that one coin that was lost.    I do have to say this, the last few days, since business is Summer Slow....I have been making a concerted effort to tidy up a bit...much to the joy of my hubby!!!! He is a very patient man, and regularly adds to the piles himself and makes some too..but I have made him very happy in my efforts!!!!  The funny thing is though...I know that I have cleaned, but it isn't showing that organization as much as I would like....Really I need a Brick and Mortar shop or a studio space of my own...one day, if I get really brave I will take pictures and post all of Bertha Louise that is all over the house!!! 

So I am NOT giving up, I WILL not panic when I LOOSE something....and pinterest will be there to calm me with very lovely pictures and inspiration!!!! hehehehehe....God Bless YOU Everyone!!!!

Pink the Color of Joy!!!

Pink....I mean who doesn't adore the color...well, maybe some guys don't appreciate it...so today, today is dedicated to the color pink and all of the wonderful shades of said color that apply...Who cannot appreciate the lovely shades of pink in a night time sky, just as the sun is setting...or the pink of a new born babies sweet little lips.   The pink of a conch shell, or lovely pink summer roses!!!! I adore pink.....to all of you who also adore pink...... these pictures are for you!!!!!

My Mori Girl Beginnings......

I have been discovering so much since opening my little shop on etsy.  There is such a wonderful world full of beauty and style and my little laptop has brought me into the lives of so many wonderful people!!!! Since, "going over the hill", I decided that I would wear and dress the way that I wanted to, instead of  the general style of the neighborhood....It all started with my ankle, a weak ankle that I have had since 8th grade when I fell and ripped all of the muscles in it.  I have had problems with it for years, and a couple of years ago, I twisted it yet again, and at that moment, I decided never again!!!! I figured if Victorian women could live in lace up boots, well then so could I.  But, then a dilemma arose..what in the world does one wear with lace up roper cowboy boots???? I had ALWAYS loved the way that the young ladies of the Victorian and Edwardian age dressed, the layers, the lace, the little bloomers and hats and such, I mean what lady can resist Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables.    Then a wonderful thing happened....I found on pinterest a wonderful style that has taken those genres, put a wonderful and creative twist on them and sent them out onto the street, in has increased in popularity since the 1970's in Japan, and I absolutely feel in love..Mori Girl!!!! So sweet, lacy and oh so comfortable...and goes with my boots!!! hehehehehe  I started dressing in Mori Girl, and my family and friends like it.   My daughter says that I have finally found my style...and the funny thing is....I have always been this person...even my house is decorated in the romantic, loved vintage layered style.  Full of damask, lace, rose florals, tons of flowers, pink, needle point, vintage furniture, chandeliers, milk glass, vintage dishes, tea cups....oh such lovely things that a homemakers heart dreams of.    All of which I have been collecting since girlhood, from flea markets, yard sales and oh the lovely vintage thrift shops!!!!  I will be sharing with you on my blog all of the lovely vintage things that I love, my creations that I make for my shop and the many blessings the Lord above has blessed me so greatly with...... As Many of you know, my lovely daughter Rebekah is my favorite model...and to me she is Mori Girl!!!!! I simply adore her and my Romantic Mori Girl Style clothes are just perfect on her.  She is a wonderful blessing to me and so sweet too!!!!

This is what I love about my dear daughter, Rebekah, she is such a sweetie and a truly creative person, she dons the Mori Girl persona quite easily and is perfectly charming in it!!! She is my favorite model~~~~she is the face of Bertha Louise Designs~~~~Loving, beautiful and truly inspiring!!!! AND a great sense of humor with loads of personality!!!!!

Here following is a bit about me and my calling.....

My Nana, Bertha Louise, was an inspiration to me as a young girl. Her home and all of the lovely things she made had a true sense of Beauty and Southern Elegance and she had such a romantic heart! That is why I named my shop after her.  Because of her, I love vintage and antique things, from houses to furniture, clothing, housewares, and jewelry.  I  would visit her and my senses would just be enthralled with the sweet beauty of her little cottage home, the wonderfully scented yard full of the scent of a humid, perfumed air, featuring gardenia and mimosa...intoxicating!!!  I would walk out side in the hot, humid, Mississippi morning air and it was like walking in perfume!!! Oh so lovely, and the wonderful flowering bushes at her back door!!!  On one side a huge hydrangea bush, so perfectly pale blue and on the other side her gorgeously, huge gardenia...it was heaven!!!!

I  have also fallen in love with Mori Girl and was a Mori Girl years before I knew that it had a name! I love the romantic lace, ruffles and flowers of the style. The style has literally changed my life, the simple sweetness that I believe the Victorian based style expresses....pure love!!!!  And the other side of that Victorian coin,  I have recently discovered too, Steam Punk , that lovely Victorian Science Fiction, genre, that even the media has been picking up on....any one remember the Castle episode, featuring Steampunk...that Nathan?.....He really is so awesome!!!!  I have been inspired greatly by both and feature them, along with a bit more of historically inspired genres, including Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and Hollywood Glam....and well anything that I find is just plain beautiful and romantic...I just adore creating....jewelry, clothing, interiors....etc.

Creating is a way of life for me. I express my passions through painting, sewing, crocheting, floral arranging,  jewelry making, fashion and interior design.

Roses are my favorite flower!!! I am simply enamored of them and you will find me in my garden when I am not designing for my shop or spending time with family and friends. They are such a gorgeous creation, the world laughs in flowers....and roses are that wonderful special laugh that I love!!!!

My blog I hope will be a place to share all that I adore in my life, my wonderful family, dear friends, my loves of creating and sharing my designs ... and my dear sweet Lord above and all of the beauty, grace and mercy He has shown to me, all of this, I wish to share with you!
